Training - SolidWorks Fundamentals - Parts, Assemblies and Drawings

Description:

The goal of this course is to teach the user to use the SolidWorks mechanical design software to build parametric models of parts and assemblies.

The course covers the fundamentals of the part, assembly and drawing modes of SolidWorks and is geared toward the beginner user.

Duration: 5 Days - This class is offered in one 3-day segment and one 2-day segment for scheduling convenience. Individual segments cannot be purchased separately.
Prerequisites:

Mechanical design experience and completion of the SolidWorks "Getting Started Tutorial" included with the software.

Introduction to Solid Modeling Technology

  • Terminology, Industry standards and conventions, Design Intent & Good Modeling Philosophies

Basic Part Modeling (3 Days)

  • Sketching: Sketch Entities, Relations and Dimensions
  • Features: Extrude, Revolve, Sweep Bosses and Cuts, Fillets, Chamfers, Shells and Draft
  • Miscellaneous: Patterns, Making Changes, Parent/Child Relationships, Equations & Linking Values, Part Configurations with Design Tables

Bottom-Up Assembly Modeling (1/2 Day)

  • Adding Mates to Locate and Orient Components
  • Dynamic Assembly Motion and Interference Detection
