Tech Tip

Using Derived Sketch

If you find yourself using the same sketch repeatedly you may want to give the Derived Sketch tool a try.  Derived sketches allow a user to "copy" a sketch from one plane to another while keeping the same characteristics.  One benefit of using a derived sketch is that you only need to make a change to the original sketch to change the derived sketches.

To use Derived Sketch follow these instructions:

1.  Create a sketch.

AugTech1

2.  Select the original sketch and the target plane for the derived sketch.

AugTech2

3.  From the Insert Pull Down Menu select Derived Sketch.

AugTech3

4.  Position the Derived Sketch and reorient if desired.

AugTech4

5.  Any changes made to the original sketch will propagate to the Derived Sketch automatically.
