Medical professionals on the front lines of the COVID-19 outbreak need face shields, masks, nasal swabs and more to safely combat the coronavirus. Every front line of defense needs a support system to get their job done. Together, our community can be a part of that support system. This is our moment to rise to the occasion.

DesignPoint is leveraging it’s design skill set, vast network, and 3D printing technology to take action. We urge you to do the same!

RESOURCES

DesignPoint and its partners have begun to wind down on PPE production. However, we understand that a lot of you are still interested in resources to continue producing PPE. The following are measures that can be taken to support our communities, even if it is at a slower volume/ more intimate scale. Check out which files might be best and how you can be the change by personally distributing your face shields via curbside pick-up.

Want to help?
Here’s how…

STEP 1: Grab a Print File
We have our opinions on good/ better/ best for design but we don’t know what type of desktop printer you choose to use, and that might play a role in your decision. Make sure to check out what other supplies are needed.

  • 3DVERKSTAN STL
    • This is an international design focusing on speed of production. There are a few different versions depending on country and what you have available in the market.
  • STL FROM DP CUSTOMER IN THE MEDICAL FIELD
    • This is easily sanitized and comfortable. It allows space for glasses and doesn’t fog. This uses one transparency sheet that can easily be replaced.

STEP 2: 3D Print

  • 3DVERKSTAN
  • DP CUSTOMER IN THE MEDICAL FIELD
    • You shouldn’t have to configure your printer settings.

STEP 3: GATHER & ASSEMBLE

Each file shared above lists necessary other materials (elastic, film, etc.). Now is the time to gather your supplies and put these face shields together.

  • 3DVERKSTAN
    • All other materials needed can be found here.
  • DP CUSTOMER IN THE MEDICAL FIELD
    • The transparency sheet can be found at Staples. This informational video does a great job at describing how to assemble and what really goes into this design.

STEP 4: DISTRIBUTE TO YOUR LOCAL COMMUNITY

Find The Masks is a member of the GetUsPPE.org coalition. You can simply enter your zip code and you’ll immediately see which locations near you need these materials. Most, if not all, recommend ‘curbside donations’ and instruct you precisely on how to deliver this critical equipment.

STEP 5: SHARE & FOLLOW FOR UPDATES!

We encourage you to share pictures, progress, and any other tidbits from your efforts. Showing the community what you can do will inspire someone else to take action. Don’t forget to follow for updates as well!
