We’ve got super exciting news…the Metal X is expanding its applications! The latest new material to join the Markforged material’s portfolio is none other than–Inconel 625!
What is Inconel 625?
Inconel 625 is a super alloy that is highly resistant to corrosion and high temperatures and only Markforged is empowering engineers with the ability to safely and affordably 3D print with it!

Some other great distinguishing features:
- High ductility
- Resistant to rapid temperature changes
With Markforged Inconel specifically though, you can do so much more than you’d be able to traditionally, or with other 3D Printers! In traditional manufacturing, Inconel is very expensive and time consuming, proving to only be advantageous for high volume production. In the world of 3D printing overall, Direct Metal Laser Sintering (DMLS) has seen the most progress with the impressive material. However, the actual processing can emit hazardous powders and requires a specialized skill set. Between this and the price points–our industry wasn’t delivering the best and most efficient resolution. That is until now of course!
Choose Markforged Inconel and…
- You can wet sand parts without challenges of traditional machining
- Achieve near net shape without the hassle of mold creation
- You can get a resilient material at a competitive price point
- You don’t need specialized safety equipment to process
- Reduce your lead times
Wait...are you sure this is the real deal?
We’re just as impressed as you are, but yes this is real. The material’s chemical composition meets ASTM B443 & AMS 5666 standards for Inconel 625.

Is it a good fit for my industry?
Definitely (and we want to hear all about it)! In the meantime, the following verticals are a sure-fit:
- Chemical/ Power Processing
- Ocean Industry (i.e. Offshore Wind, Shipping, Marine Biotechnology)
What do you need to use the new material?
Inconel 625 is available exclusively for the Markforged Metal X.
