When I work on EPDM implementations, I am always looking for ways to make the user experience better. Recently, I started adding buttons to Template Cards that the user can click on to open the resultant location of the folders and files generated by the EPDM Template. This is a very easy thing to do and is a very significant user experience improvement. The image to the right shows the example of the button. I always try to keep the button in the same location, so if the vault has many EPDM Templates, the user always knows where to expect the button.
Below are settings for the button. Basically, use Command String for the Command Type since a DOS command will be used. Then put in the DOS command that will open the folder (explorer “[full path to folder]”). The only situations where this may not work well is when the vault root is stored in different locations on different client machines (some users may use a different drive or store their vault in a sub-directory). I always recommend that EPDM admins store the vault root in the same directory.
