Solidworks User Forum

What happened to the SOLIDWORKS Forum?!

The SOLIDWORKS Forum is a place where SOLIDWORKS users can post questions and tips to get feedback from others in the CAD community.  You might have come across the forum while searching an error message or a “how to” question on Google.  It was previously on  Recently, the forum has moved to the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform.  If you haven’t already heard, the platform is a cloud-based one-stop-shop for businesses.  Learn more about it here.

Posts and comments that were created before the transition are still available through Google, but they are not live which means you will not be able to add new comments.  The new comments have to be added via the platform.  To see what an old post looks like in Google, look at this example of a post made in 2010.  All new posts must be added through the platform.

How do I get access to the new location?

Visit and click on the button “Log in with your SOLIDWORKS ID or 3DEXPERIENCE ID”.  Your SOLIDWORKS ID is what you use to sign into your previous Forum account, Customer Portal account, or MySolidworks account.  If you do not have one, click “Create a new account”.

After logging in, you’ll be redirected to the SOLIDWORKS User Forum community on the platform.  Make it easier to access next time by saving this webpage as a favorite.  “Communities” can be thought of as searchable news feeds.  The forum community is open to the public and you do not need 3DEXPERIENCE licenses to have access.

Use 6W tags to search for product-specific posts.  The 6Ws represent Who, What, Where, When, Why, and How.  They allow you to filter posts based on those categories.  In this example, we’ll use What > User Tags.
